Immerse yourself in New Zealand’s rich gold mining history and natural landscapes in this thrilling tour outside the busy city! Enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Wakatipu Basin and Skippers Canyon. With your very own local guide navigating the narrow roads of Skippers Canyon Road, you will get unrivalled views of the canyon as you travel past Lighthouse Rock. You will cross the historical Skippers Suspension Bridge, one of New Zealand’s highest bridges that was built in 1901. From there onwards you will learn more about the history of the area from your local guide as you explore the restored Skippers Settlement and the historic miner’s road built in 1862. Take a break from all the adventure with a quick pit stop for morning/afternoon tea at the settlement’s schoolhouse. Lastly we will end the tour with a fun gold panning activity in the Shotover River before heading back to Queenstown.
