This is a walking tour.  The tour focuses on the homes, architecture and culture in the Garden District and the historical background for its development.  In addition to the neighborhood, we visit the Lafayette Cemetery #1 (if open) and explain the customs for burials in New Orleans.  The walking portion takes between 1.5-2 hours, depending on the group's pace, number of questions, weather, etc..

Note: Because of the pandemic, reservations to Commander's may not be available. Also, the cemetery we normally visit is closed for sidewalk repair. We need to confirm if one or both sites are open and available before booking.

  • The green, St. Charles Avenue streetcar stops at Washington and St. Charles Avenue. Prytania is one block from St. Charles toward the Mississippi River. We can also pick you up at your hotel if it is more convenient.
