Itinerary

Hrad Valdstejn

Valdštejn is the oldest castle in the Bohemian Paradise. Due to its picturesque location in the sandstone rocks, it also became the second oldest accessible monument in Bohemia. Today it is a popular excursion spot in the Bohemian Paradise and also the third most visited monument in the Liberec Region. The complex castle complex of Valdštejna Castle was built on jagged rocks for centuries. Gothic masonry, rock vaults, buildings and works of art from the Baroque era, classicism and romantic modifications combine the Middle Ages with the 19th century. Many surprises await you at Valdštejná Castle. During the summer holidays, you can be accompanied by a local robber knight, you can also take part in a mysterious night tour, experience the bat night or meet Duke Albrecht of Wallenstein himself. Hruba Skala

Hrubá Skála Castle, originally called Skála Castle, was built in the 14th century on massive sandstone rocks. The name Hrubá Skála arose to distinguish it from Little Rock. The castle with the surrounding manor was acquired from the last members of the dying Smiřicky family by Albrecht of Valdštejn, who annexed it to his Frydlant duchy. After many fires, the originally Gothic castle was rebuilt into a neo-Gothic romantic castle. Currently, the castle serves as a hotel and congress center. The observation tower, selected castle interiors and the castle courtyard are accessible to visitors. The castle offers a nice view of the surrounding countryside, especially Hruboskalsko, Trosky Castle, Tábor and Kozákov hills. The parking lot is located in front of the castle itself, so it is not allowed to drive in the courtyard of the castle.

Turnov

What distinguishes Turnov from all other cities in the Czech Republic? They are the cutters of precious stones who have been working here since the end of the 16th century, and the manufacture of jewelry. There are numerous gem deposits in the area, and right in the city you can visit jewelry workshops, stone polishing workshops and various crafts workshops.
