Start your Tuscan Food Venture in the right way, following ancient Renaissance tradition we start the night with some liquid courage and a quick snack at Florence’s famous ‘’wine window’, known as Buchetta del vino. Originally created to avoid taxes on taverns by selling directly to the public, this ancient hack was frequented by masters like Michelangelo himself!
Next, we’ll head to Via dei Neri, a Florentine street known specifically for its food. The street is lined with dozens of panino shops, all with freshly cured meats and delicious cheeses. During lunchtime, this street is filled with hungry travelers and Florentines waiting for a good meal. We’ll stop at a local shop for aperitivo, meaning a quick bite before dinner time. Taste local samples of meats and cheeses, wash it all down with some delicious vino while learning from our guide why meats and cheeses tend to be more ‘’spezziato’’ in Florence than in the rest of Italy. You'll also have the chance to dig your teeth into hearty pappa al pomodoro or ribollita depending on the season, and sample local paté.
