Start your day with a drive up the spectacular Filerimos Hill, once home to the oldest ancient city-state of the Island called Ialyssos. The numerous peacocks naturally residing in the area will be sure to welcome you in the area. You can enjoy a short walk along a cobbled path leading to an imposing high cross on the top of the hill where you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view. Before you return to your bus, you also have the option to visit the Byzantine Monastery and buy the unique 7 Herbs Liquor made with the monks’ secret recipe.
We will be following the scenic West Coast route that connects some of the most impressive sights; the ancient city of Kamiros and Kritinia’s castle. Kamiros is one of the best-preserved classical Greek cities. Wander through the streets and try picturing what life in Rhodes must have been like in this ancient Doric settlement from the late Bronze Age until approximately 142 BC.
Then, explore Kritinia’s Castle, founded by the Knights during the 14th century, and let yourself be amazed by the superb view from above the west coast. The fortress is often called “Castello” as it was the largest of the Knights’ fortresses along the island’s west coast. It dominates the western passage and the channel of Halki.
