Punta Tombo, is world renowned as one of the finest spots to view Magellan penguins and one of the largest penguin nesting grounds in continental South America. This vast rookery and breeding area hosts approximately 2 million Magellan penguins that arrive to fulfill the procreation of the species. During your visit you will have time to walk among the thousands of nests and marvel at this wonder of nature and these unforgettable birds.

This Protected Natural Area was created as such, in 1979, has a total extension of 210 hectareas, and can be visited from September to April. The beach is considered intangible area, and in February you will find it, full of Penguins Chicks practicing swimming, especially in the small pools leave it from the tides. Leaving Puerto Madryn, toward the south, by the No 3 national route, and after traveling through 120 miles of pavement and gravel, we will arrive at Punta Tombo, the greater continental reserve of Magellan Penguins (Spheniscus Magallanicus). This incredible place its home of thousands of Magellan Penguins, and every year since October, they arrive to nest and to have their chicks. To watch and protected the place is important to respect the perfectly designed walking paths.
