During this activity you will be able to come into even more contact with the culinary traditions of our region. Our cook will teach you everything you need to know (techniques, raw materials, utensils, ingredients) about the preparation of handmade pasta at home and will also give you precious tips on preparing the sauce so that when you return home, you will enjoy your family or friends with a delicious Italian pasta dish. In the afternoon, our private tour guide will take us to see the capital city of Umbria, Perugia, a wonderful city with numerous monuments and places of interest: we will start from the underground Perugia under the Rocca Paolina to learn the details of the ancient city, and then we will visit Corso Vannucci, the main street of the historic center and the place where the main events of the city take place, with all the buildings and monuments of greatest historical, artistic, architectural and cultural interest.
This morning we'll reach a lovely farmhouse among the olive trees near Assisi in which animals are raised in the wild and food is grown without using pesticides. Here, after a guided visit of the farm, we'll learn how to make traditional Umbrian homemade pasta; we'll learn the biological phases of this product from the grain to the grind, the various types of flour, its processing techniques, and experience the flour processing into typical Umbrian pasta. Successively, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch with the result of our work and other typical products! After lunch, we'll reach Perugia for an interesting guided tour. Perugia is worth visiting not only for the beauty of its hilltop setting, but also for its fine old buildings. Before it came under Roman rule, it was one of the 12 cities of the Etruscan federation, and considerable sections of the Etruscan walls have been preserved. Perugia is known to the art world as the center of the Umbrian School of Painting in the 15th and 16th centuries and its leading members, Perugino and Pinturicchio, worked here. The young Raphael worked in Perugino's studio until 1504. You'll find their works in Perugia's churches and public buildings.
