We drive along the coast road, Amager Strandvej and then by the old ramparts of Christianshavn, before passsing through the centre of the city, to Copenhagen Central Station, where you will need to change bus. Then after a small break, we travel through inner Copenhagen out to the beautiful coast road.
Our Saviours Church, which was concecrated in 1696. It was commissioned by King Christian V and took 14 years to build, being constructed on land claimed from the sea. This baroque church is in the shape of a Greek Cross. The tower, with its external staircase, was constructed 50 years later and designed by Lauritz de Thurah. There are 400 steps taking you to the Golden Ball at the top, with the last 150 steps on the outside of the spire. At the very top of the 90m or 295ft tall structure, is a statue of Christ holding a banner. Inside the tower are six large bells. 200,000 people visit this church every year.
