Each clan chooses its leader through tradition and respect and the current leader is in charge of activities of high cultural value. We will learn from the elder about the Maleku culture and traditions, explore a jungle trail to learn about medicinal plants and their uses, as well as learn about the trees and plants that have cultural significance or are used in Maleku gastronomy. Finally, the elder will lead a cacao ceremony of purification and blessing to visitors. You will learn about the cultural importance and medicinal properties of cacao, and share in a unique and traditional cacao ceremony that by tradition is one of the activities of utmost importance and cultural value to the Maleku people due to its spirituality.
