— What You Can Expect —

Visit Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, home to Tasmania's largest 24/7 Wildlife Rescue Service with a team of volunteers dedicated to helping protect endangered species. Rest assured that your entry fee goes toward helping Bonorong rescue animals, as the sanctuary is entirely funded by admissions.

Bonorong is unique because its primary aim is to assist wildlife back to full health so they can be reintroduced to the wild. As such, in your time at Bonorong, you'll discover the story of each animal you encounter.

Hosting animals that no longer exist in other parts of Australia, Bonorong contains an ever-changing cast of survivors. Here are some of the animals you may meet at the sanctuary:

  • Forester kangaroos
  • Tasmanian devils
  • Wombats
  • Koalas
  • Sugar gliders
  • Eastern quolls
  • Sulphur-crested cockatoos
  • Yellow-tailed black cockatoos
  • Tawny frogmouths
  • Randall and Luigi the echidnas
  • Tasmanian bettongs
  • ...and much more!

  • To enjoy the wildlife at your leisure, we recommend allowing an absolute minimum of one hour to wander around the sanctuary
