Japanese culture begins with hospitality. We will visit Yamanashi Prefecture, a scenic basin surrounded by mountains two hours by car from Tokyo. In the morning, we will visit a temple lined with Buddhist statues and enjoy Yamanashi's famous miso-flavored houtou-nabe. In the afternoon, we will visit the traditional Shirayuri Brewery, established in 1938, located in Katsunuma, the famous birthplace of Japanese wine. You can visit the winery and enjoy wine tasting. Afterwards, enjoy a bath in the open-air bath “Mitama-no-yu” with a panoramic view of Japan's famous peaks and the townscape. You can also try your hand at carving seals (in case the instructor cannot be reserved).
