the Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa are the largest and most important burial sites in Egypt. They date back to the Greco Roman period. Kom El Shuqafa, or the hill of treasures in the Arabic language, was unearthed by chance at the beginning of the 20th century. Dating back to the 2nd century AD.
Pompey's Pillar
Pompey’s Pillar, officially known as the Memorial of Diocletian, is an impressive ancient structure located in Alexandria, Egypt. Standing at 25 meters tall, it is the largest column in Egypt and was constructed in honor of the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century AD. Originally intended as a tribute, the pillar is made of red granite and showcases exquisite craftsmanship. It is surrounded by the remnants of the Serapeum, a once-majestic temple dedicated to the god Serapis. The column has withstood the test of time and remains a significant historical landmark, symbolizing Alexandria's rich heritage and its connection to both Roman and Egyptian civilizations.
