A REAL DUTCH MENU & BEVERAGE EXPERIENCE We will take you to a variety of local locations during "The Essential Amsterdam Tasting Tour" so you may sample the most distinctive and traditional Dutch foods and beverages. For those who aren't feeling alcoholic, there will also be some locally made alcoholic beverages available on the menu, along with soft drinks, tea, and coffee. The bare minimum of 3 people needed to complete this excursion. For a custom tour, your guide will inquire about your preferences and specific requests at the start of the tour. Naturally, you will also sample some of our delectable seafood, chocolate, cheeses, and cuisine from our former Dutch colonies in addition to some classic Dutch sweet and fried foods.
Next to of course some interesting stories and facts about the Dam Square's main landmarks, like the Royal Palace and the National Memorial you will try around the Dam Square at several stops chocolate (you will do a small chocolate tasting), a famous freshly made Dutch "stroopwafel" (= our national cookie!) and a local drink or spirit. Depending on your preferences and taste you can chose between a locally brewed beer (defenitively no Heineken!) from the famous Bierkoning (if they are open and if not we go into a brewpub or cozy bar), a Dutch wine (in a hidden wine cellar) or a tasting of locally produced Dutch spirits like genever, brandenwijn (= brandy) or a liquor.
Your Dutch Food Master will share with you several amazing Dutch food and drink tales at and around the pittoresque Spui square. We will kick off here with a cheese tasting at a high-quality Dutch cheese store and your Dutch Food Master will share with you all ins and outs on the Dutch and their cheeses. After the cheese tasting you will go inside of a tipical Brown Bar (sometimes still from the 17th century!) for a simple pilsener beer and "bitterballen" (= round shapped balls filled with stew) or "kaasstengels" (= cheese sticks)
At the lively Zeedijk at the border of the Red Light District Amsterdam's past and present come together. Here your Dutch Food Master will let you taste Amsterdam's best fries (with some unique sauces like the delicious stew or rendang sauce hardly available anywhere else!) at his personal favourite spot for fries. Also it is time to try in this neigborhood some of the delicious food from the Dutch former colonies Indonesia and Surinam, like chicken with saté sauce (peanut sauce)
