The planned route of this itinerary is to enter from the Zizhong intersection, walk 3.7 kilometers and then turn back to the Zizhong intersection. The whole journey is flat and easy to walk (the whole round trip takes about 3 hours).

During the Japanese colonial period, the back section of the ancient road was converted into the "Shuishan Line" railway for transporting forest trees. There are two entrances to the Tefuye Ancient Trail. One is from Zizhong at the junction of Alishan Township and Xinyi Township, and the other can be entered from the Alishan Tefuye Tribe.

The front section of the ancient road is relatively flat, with cryptomeria trees planted all along the way, while the back section has steep sleeper stairs. The forest is dense along the way, and there are old railway landscapes. In the rich natural ecological scenery, there is a strong cultural atmosphere, so After walking the Tefuye Ancient Trail, no one said it was not worth it, which shows its great reputation.

After arriving at Fenchihu, you can visit Fenchihu Station, the ancient steam locomotive, Sifang Bamboo and Fenchihu Old Street.
