TODAY's Turin's art, society and market in a square!

Small Group

Have you ever thought how the largest market in Europe could be, where Baroque, Roman, contemporary architecture and street art blend with the smells of fruits, spices and cultures from all over the world? Well, let me take you away on this journey to distant countries and, at the same time, a very Turinese place that is Porta Palazzo and its market.

We'll see historical buildings transformed into surprising architectures, understand how Turin people used to live in the 50s and now, walk in the most multi-ethnic area of the city and appreciate the variety of modern and old architecture, history, society and vibrant contrasts of TODAY's Turin.

I recommend this historical/architectural tour especially if you've already been to Turin or want to skip the usual highlights and understand this part of the city with a 100% Turinese, graduated in Art History, who knows fascinating stories and unique places that otherwise you wouldn't be able to find, with an ironic, informal style.

Forget about the guides with an umbrella, their list of dates and big groups: I want to give 100% of my attention to everyone, at your pace. Consider me your funny (why not) LOCAL FRIEND, not a guide.

Itinerary

Turin
Pass-by Only

We'll walk around the Porta Palazzo area with several stops to discuss about history, architecture, society and of course the market. THIS IS NOT a shopping/food tour, but if you find something interesting to buy/taste, we can quickly stop on the fly, no prob! Anyway, after the tour you can buy whatever you wish. Porta Palazzo's the district with most immigration and cultural diversity: it's a small city in the city! Be open-mind and curious ;-)

I want to give what I look for when I travel: beautiful places, good company and good memories! Consider me your Turinese FRIEND, not a guide! I was BORN and GROWN in Turin, I studied Conservation of Cultural Heritage and I graduated in Art and Cinema History. I have also lived abroad as a teacher of Italian for foreigners and I speak English, French, Spanish, some Portuguese and Esperanto. I love studying languages, understanding their social value and learning from my guests! I will share with you some anecdotes from my family, a very Turin family, sometimes too much...! In 2010 I started working for some American relocation companies that support expats in their "new life" in Turin and for several companies that provide private language courses.

Porta Palatina
Pass-by Only

To get an idea of why this tour is one of the most (badly!) imitated in Turin, take a look at the (already more than 650) reviews, all positive, of those who have done it before you. At the end of the tour you will see Turin with different eyes and you will not have lost anything that you could not have found or fully appreciated on your own. It's an investment of time and money that makes the difference, it's not just me saying that, but whoever did the tour in the first place. Consider that even Turinese themselves book the tour to really get to know the city, in a new way or even as a gift for themselves or for partners, family, friends. Who are always enthusiastic about it, because living in a city is not enough to get to know it thoroughly and in a curious and intriguing way. I will be at your complete disposal for any questions you may have about Turin: what to visit, where to eat, transport, culture, dialect, Turin lifestyle, etc. to make your experience as useful as possible.
