Glacier Hike and Intro to Ice Climbing on Sólheimajökull Join a small-group adventure across the stunning Sólheimajökull glacier, where you'll spend around three hours on the ice exploring dramatic formations and learning the basics of ice climbing — no experience needed. Check-in and Preparation: Arrive at Sólheimajökull Base Camp (National Park Visitor’s Centre) at least 20 minutes before departure. A certified glacier guide will provide a safety briefing and fit you with gear, including crampons, helmet, harness, and ice axe. Glacier Hike and Ice Climbing: Take a glacier bus to the ice, then hike across a surreal landscape of crevasses, ridges, and ice sculptures. Your guide will share insights about glacial geology and safety. After a short walk, you’ll try a moderately difficult ice climb — a fun, hands-on introduction to glacier climbing. Return to base camp after the climb with unforgettable memories and plenty of photo opportunities.
