Your tour guide will be welcoming you at your hotel or Shanghai Railway Station at 12:45p.m. Then, we will transfer to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town and start our Shanghai tour. Located in a suburb of Shanghai city, Zhujiajiao Water Town is well-known throughout the country, with a history of more than 1,700 years. Zhujiajiao makes a name for itself with its convenient land and water transportation, beautiful scenery, abundant products, is the most well-preserved water town in Shanghai. Bridges here are distinctive and old, built during Ming and Qing Dynasties. There is an ancient street filled with representative ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, attracting great numbers of domestic and foreign visitors. The north street is at once primitively simple, yet very elegant. It is of great pleasure that wandering around this ancient thoroughfare and appreciating the historic buildings, long-established stores, old bridges and many narrow lanes.
After visiting Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, we will head over to Xintiandi and taste a Sichuan Cuisine for dinner. Xintiandi is a tourist attraction that preserves the historical and cultural features of Shanghai and integrates Chinese and western culture. It has been a Shanghai icon for over a decade. Divided into a pedestrianized north and south block, consists of largely traditional shikumen houses, brought bang up to date with a stylish modern spin. Actually, it stands for the popular and leisurely life style of this city's new generation. The outdoor cafes, bars and romantic restaurants can be seen everywhere.
It is an old shikumen house built in the 1920s that has been preserved and renovated. The museum was built according to the model of one household in the 1920s. There are seven main exhibition rooms, namely, the guest room, the study room, the old people's room, the master room, the daughter room, the pavilion room and the oven room. The story of a shikumen family runs through the whole visit. It not only shows the unique shikumen architectural culture of Shanghai, but also reproduces the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai people in those days.
