Junko is a delightful, fun-loving local who offers a delightful market tour and private Japanese cooking class in her home. After a pandemic hiatus, Junko is delighted to host guests at her home again! With Junko as your local guide discover in Tsukiji's outer market a variety of Japanese goods, from vegetables and fruits to knives and ceramics. You will also get a glimpse into the incredible local seafood trade. Junko's goal is to help you understand the spirit behind Japanese cuisine which is all about enjoying the present moment and season. After your market tour, take the subway or bus with Junko to her home to begin your private Japanese cooking class. In Junko's small and simple apartment, learn to cook 3-4 of Junko's favorite, savory Japanese dishes made from seasonal ingredients from scratch. Some of the dishes you might learn to cook are teriyaki chicken, eggplant with dengaku miso, tamagoyaki and miso soup made with homemade miso. You can expect your cooking class to take about 1.5 hours. After cooking, sit down together to share the meal you helped prepare with Junko. Junko's home is close to many tourist attractions such as Ginza and the Imperial Palace.
