Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)
A must-see, this iconic 13.35-meter-tall bronze statue of Amida Buddha dates back to the 13th century. Set in a peaceful outdoor setting, it’s one of Japan’s most famous landmarks and a symbol of Kamakura.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
Kamakura’s most important Shinto shrine, dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war. The impressive main gate, surrounded by beautiful grounds, provides a glimpse into Kamakura’s history as a political and cultural center.
