The São João National Theatre, in Porto, is a cultural landmark that was inaugurated in 1798 and rebuilt in 1920 by architect José Marques da Silva. With its neoclassical architecture and luxurious interior, it is a venue dedicated to the performing arts, including theatre, music, and dance, and stands as a cultural reference in Portugal.
The Fernandine Wall, in Porto, is an ancient defensive structure built in the 14th century during the reign of King Fernando I. It replaced earlier medieval walls to protect the expanding city. Although it was partially demolished in the 19th century, significant sections still remain — particularly in the Ribeira and Morro da Sé areas — serving as historical and architectural witnesses to Porto’s medieval past.
The Monastery of Serra do Pilar, in Vila Nova de Gaia, is a 16th-century historic monument known for its unique circular church and Renaissance architecture. Built by monks of the Order of Saint Augustine, it offers panoramic views over Porto and the Douro River. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a striking symbol of the region.
