Otatara Pa Historic Reserve Walk

Visit the historic Ōtātara Pā, Te Matau-a-Māui’s (Hawke’s Bay) largest Māori pā site. Hear the stories of this significant place with our deeply knowledgeable guide, Piri. - This tour requires guests to walk up a hill to the Pā site, approximately 1km of walking - Guests must wear covered shoes

Kohupātiki Marae – Be formally welcomed onto a living marae nestled along the Ngaruroro River. This sacred place of gathering offers an authentic glimpse into Māori tikanga (customs), wairua (spirituality), and community life.

Atea A Rangi

The vehicle used for your tour will pick you up at your pickup location. The vehicle is marked 'Mates Travel' and is easy to spot upon arrival. The vehicle with the Guide will arrive no later than 5 minutes before the tour starts. Your guide will pick you up at the lobby/entrance to your pick-up location if they are unable to find a park right outside.

Meeting / End Points

  • You will find the National Aquarium along Marine Parade in Napier. Your guide will be waiting for you next to the vehicle that will take you on your tour. The Vehicle will be marked 'Mates Travel' and will be parked at the meeting point at least 5 minutes before departure.
