Itinerary

  • Chinatown Visitor Centre, behind Buddha Tooth Centre
  • Time: 10:00-13:00
  • 10:00 Meet the Guide at Chinatown Visitors Centre
  • Explore Chinatown Complex and its history. The largest hawker centre, with some of the original hawkers that were cleared out from the streets.
  • Understand the stories behind the origins of some of our best dishes with origins from China.
  • Taste samplers and full dishes, like Carrot cake, Stone ground sesame seed desserts, Soysauce want chicken and meet Hawkers both new and old.
  • Meet one of the last heritage Sauce makers in Singapore, and have a tasting session.
  • Cross over to the old Jinrikshaw station and then to Maxwell Foodcourt, to continue the food journey, with one of the last heritage Rickshaw noodle hawkers and learn the story behind it.
  • Try Oyster cakes, Shanghai dumplings and Cantonese dough fritters, discuss the rivalry between Chicken rice stalls and the rich history.
  • 13:00 Finish at Huggs Epigram Cafe with a refreshing drink and Singapore flavoured cookies, like Chilli crab and Ondeh Ondeh.
