Mindo Cloud Forest Full Day (flexible itinerary)

We will leave early in the morning towards the northwest of Quito city. We will cross the north of Quito. After 65 minutes of travel, we will stop at the Alambi or San Tadeo reserve both are good places to observe hummingbirds. We will pass through different ecosystems until we reach the cloud forest. In Mindo, the highest daytime temperatures are around 19 °C / 62° F. Mindo is a unique place for birdwatching. Hundreds of species inhabit the Choco Andino Biosphere Reserve, which is adjacent to the town of Mindo. If you want to focus more on birdwatching, you can consult your guide. The trip along the road to Mindo will be relaxing, observing an impressive Andean jungle.

Alambi or San Tadeo are private reserves full of playful hummingbirds and other bird species. The reserve is located at the lower part of the Tandayapa valley at 4,900feet or on the road that leads to the Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve. This place is dreamy and perfect for taking pictures or filming the hummingbird flying on a slow-motion video. One of the experiences of this place is that you can feed the hummingbirds by holding a feeder and they will approach you with complete confidence. If you are lucky, we can find species that inhabit this region such as the Crimson-rumped Toucanet, Oropendolas or Tanagers, Quetzals. We suggest you bring a semi or professional camera with a 200 mm to 600 mm lens to have a better experience in this fabulous place.

Mindo Nambillo Cloud Forest Reserve

Waterfall sanctuary is the best experience in Mindo. Cascades are located within a pristine protected forest in Mindo Highlands. We will take the "Tarabita" (Cable car powered by a car machine). The cable car will be the beginning of our adventure. We will cross over from one slope to another one, covering a distance of approximately 500 meters. From the cable car, we will observe the beautiful of the humid and warm Cloud Forest, cover by a dense and green vegetation of trees and plants of different sizes. Walk along by trails that will lead us to a series of waterfalls, starting from the smallest one until we reach the largest waterfall where visitors can enjoy a swim or dive in the refreshing and clear waters. The hike is about 2.5 km / 1,5 miles, on irregular terrain, where there are downhills and uphills. The activity is intended for children, adults and senior people. You do not need to have special training, although you should have a little experience in medium-distance walks.
