Piazza Navona is one of the most spectacular and characteristic urban complexes of Baroque Rome. The square is bordered by the buildings that stood on the remains of the Stadium of Domitian. Three fountains adorn the square: the Fontana del Moro, so named for the statue of the Ethiopian wrestling with a dolphin, the Fontana de' Calderari, also known as the Fontana del Neptune and, in the center, the imposing Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
A must in Rome!!!! Wonderful photos to take and traditions and legends to live........ throw a coin in the fountain and you will definitely return to Rome! If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a little romance, maybe even Italian love, you’ll have to flip a second and a third coin to make sure the wedding bells ring soon. The Trevi Fountain was the splendid setting for the best-known scene of the film La Dolce Vita by director Federico Fellini; a provocative Anita Ekberg wrapped in a long black evening dress calls Marcello Mastroianni: “Marcello, come here!”, while sinuous plunges into the sparkling waters of the fountain. Not everyone knows that on the outside right side of the fountain there is a rectangular basin with two small spouts: the fountain of lovers. Couples who drink from this fountain will remain in love and faithful forever.
A must-see to use as a backdrop for great photos! In the center of Piazza di Spagna you can admire the scenic Spanish Steps, at the foot of the staircase stands the fountain built between 1626 and 1629 by Pietro Bernini, father of the famous Gian Lorenzo.
