Memphis and Sakkara
While not a pyramid site, Memphis provides context for Egypt’s unification and state formation. Founded by Menes, it served as the capital and spiritual center dedicated to Ptah, patron of craftsmen. At the open-air museum, you will view the Alabaster Sphinx, colossal statues of Ramesses II, and learn how royal patronage in Memphis catalyzed innovations in funerary architecture.
Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids
The complex surrounding Djoser’s Step Pyramid marks the world’s first monumental stone structure. Designed by the polymath Imhotep, the six-tiered pyramid soared to 62 m and introduced the concept of a royal tomb in stone.
Pyramids of Dahshour
The site were two significant key developments in pyramid construction have taken place. There you will get to see the Bent Pyramid, and the first smooth-sided pyramid (aka the Red Pyramid)
