Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani is a small church located in the heart of the old town of Palermo. It was built in 1230 and was heavily damaged during the earthquake of 1693. The visit will be from the outside. In 1716, it was rebuilt by architect Domenico Antonio Vaccaro and became one of the most important symbols for Sicilian Baroque architecture. It is now considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited churches in Palermo. The church has been transformed into a museum displaying various cultural artifacts from ancient to modern times which include paintings, sculptures, mosaics, frescoes and more. The fountain has been restored several times since its construction, but it still retains its original beauty.
