The Temple of Heaven was a place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties acted as interlocutors between humanity and the god of heaven, offering sacrifices to the God of heaven and praying for a bountiful harvest. The entire building is surrounded by hundreds years old pine trees. There are a total of 92 ancient buildings and 600 rooms in the architectural complex. It is the most complete existing royal sacrificial architecture complex in China and also the largest surviving celestial sacrificial architecture complex in the world.
