Also know as Khowpa, Bhaktapur is an ancient city to the east of Kathmandu. Once a major trading centre with its own royal palace, Panauti has a thriving new area with modern buildings alongside peaceful serene well preserved old town. Panauti as a tourist heritage site has a lot to offer with so many temples, stupas and statues with the added serenity of green hills and paddy fields. This small town near Kathmandu retains much of its charm and reflects a much more relaxed pace of life.
