Domus Aurea
Nero's Golden House, also known as Domus Aurea, was the opulent palace built by the Roman Emperor Nero in 64 AD. It was constructed after the Great Fire of Rome and served as a grand residence for Nero until his eventual exile. The complex was renowned for its stunning architecture, innovative design, and lavish decor. Located just beneath the modern-day site of the Colosseum, the Colosseum was constructed after the reign of Nero using the same stone and some remains of the Domus Aurea.
