This night photo workshop is a fast-paced, 3.5-hour dive into Tokyo’s neon-soaked streets, capturing Blade Runner-inspired scenes across multiple unique locations. Designed to cover as many iconic night spots as possible, it offers an intense and immersive experience unlike any other workshop in Tokyo, blending precise planning with the spontaneity of the city’s electric atmosphere.
We begin around Shibuya’s newly developed Sakura Stage area, where modern architecture and dynamic lighting provide the perfect start for exploring neon compositions and experimenting with silhouettes. We’ll then venture into the heart of Shibuya, navigating its lesser-known alleys to uncover hidden neon-lit spots ideal for capturing moody, isolated scenes and unique angles. Next up is Akihabara where you’ll learn techniques for balancing intense colours, capturing reflections, and isolating subjects against a neon glow. We then head to Nakano where we dive into atmospheric, narrow alleys that offer a vintage, cinematic feel. Next up is Shinjuku’s Omoide Yokocho - this location is ideal for capturing warm tones, smoky scenes, and layered compositions. Next, we’ll work on panning techniques near Kabukicho, Shinjuku’s entertainment district, to create dynamic, motion-filled shots of bustling nightlife, with neon signs as your backdrop. Finally we end at the dazzling neon sign of the Robot Restaurant where you’ll have the opportunity to capture some final, high-energy shots that embody the electric energy of Tokyo’s nightlife.
