Gate of Athena Archegetis

The gate of the God Athena, for who the city was named. It was constructed in 11 B.C. with the donations from Julius Caesar. Discover it's history and story of Athena.

You'll see the historic Old Madrasa Gate and learn the story of the Turks that lived here, what they did and what happened and why this door still stands.

End Points

  • The tour ends on the fabled Areopagus Hill where you'll hear the story of the first court, the Gods, and the Apostle Paul. You'll also get an amazing view of the Temples above.
