ーRestaurant Introductionー

Minokichi was founded in 1716 as one of the eight fish restaurants designated by the Kyoto Magistrate during the Edo period. It is still creating great success in the Beijing-style cuisine industry. In 1950, Minokichi moved to its current address and in 1992 was renamed Takemoro, which means "restaurant surrounded by lush bamboo forests." From the windows of every room in the restaurant, you can see the Zen-like Japanese bamboo garden, which adds a touch of elegance and tranquility to the restaurant.

Kyoto, as the former capital of Japan, has evolved into a unique dietary form over the course of history through the integration of royal cuisine, vegetarian Shojin cuisine derived from Zen, and simple Kaiseki tea. This is Kaiseki cuisine, or Kyoto cuisine. Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine has won high praise for its unique aesthetic and has become a part of Japan's traditional culture and art.

Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine can be described as a work of art in cuisine, and Takemoro has perfectly inherited this tradition. As an art stage showcasing Kyoto's culinary culture, Takemoro will create a more enjoyable gourmet world for you.
