Following Charles Darwin footsteps, who visited “La Campana” National Park on August of 1834, will lead us to discover this wonderful place labeled by the UNESCO as a “Biosphere Reserve”, with the objective of protecting a unique ecosystem which includes an abundant and varied amount of native flora and fauna. Some of the palms are more than 400 years old! On top of that, La Campana National park aims to preserve the Chilean palm (Jubaea Chilensis), which is the most southern palm of the World, and which is, nowadays in danger of extinction due to the production and the extraction of the honey, that started in the colonial era, for replacing the sugar cane used in Central America and the Caribbean. We are going to do the “Sendero La Cascada” Trail, 12 kms of round-trip extension for arriving to a lookout where you can appreciate a waterfall of 30 meters.
