The castle is the first attraction of Himeji city but the Engyo-ji temple sits even further, perched in the mountain. We can enjoy the day before e to visit the castle to sink us into Mount Shosha and to visit this temple, a high place of History and which was also one of the shooting places of the famous movie "The Last Samurai". It’s beautiful! A short bus ride then cable car and we are there.
Himeji Castle, aka the White Heron Castle for its color, is a Japanese fortified castle. It dates from medieval times and is one of only 12 Japanese castles to have been perfectly preserved. UNESCO has also designated this castle a World Heritage Site. It’s wonderful! And now it is open to our visits.
