From Cairo you can have a 3 hour ride with intervals to visit Egypt's second largest city Alexandria, locally called the Bride of the Mediterranean according to its strategic location on the Mediterranean Seashore. You will see rock-cut Roman catacombs, the ruins of a Roman temple complex and its famous Pompeii's pillar, and Qaitbey Citadel which was built with the remains of the ancient Pharos Light house. Our professional and friendly tour guide will pick you up from your Hotel lobby. Have a 3-hour drive through the decent desert road that is very well cared after. After about 1.5 hours you will an interval to stretch legs, get a drink, or freshen up. Then continue the drive for another 1.5 hours to enjoy an amazing day trip to Alexandria. First visit the rock-cut Roman catacombs, which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock
and then visit Pompey's Pillar, which constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally from the Serapeum temple, which was dedicated the Bull God Serapis that was glorified by both Egyptian and Greek people, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and the Caesarean.
Then we proceed to see the Qaitbay Citadel which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria that was once one of the wonders of the ancient world.
