My tour, Enchanting Avignon: History and Legend, goes beyond the typical historical walk—it’s a journey through time, blending fascinating history with captivating legends.

As an experienced guide with in-depth knowledge and a passion for storytelling, I bring Avignon’s medieval past to life, from the grandeur of the Popes’ Palace to the secrets hidden in the city’s ancient streets.

What sets this experience apart is the balance between historical facts, engaging anecdotes, and local insights. You’ll hear the untold stories behind the city’s iconic landmarks, learn about its unique Provençal culture, and discover hidden corners that most visitors overlook.

To ensure the best experience, I provide audio headsets so everyone can hear clearly, making it ideal for all travelers (you can bring your own 3.5mm earphone if you have any)

Note: I am a local guide with a passion for history, not a professional historian. Access to churches depends on their schedules and is not guaranteed.

Cathedrale Notre-Dame des Doms

The Cathedral of Notre-Dame des Doms in Avignon is a stunning example of Romanesque architecture, standing proudly beside the Palace of the Popes. Built in the 12th century, this historic cathedral features a striking gilded statue of the Virgin Mary atop its bell tower, visible from across the city. Inside, you’ll find beautiful frescoes, religious art, and the tombs of several popes who resided in Avignon during the 14th century. The cathedral’s peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views from the adjacent gardens make it a must-see for anyone exploring Avignon’s rich spiritual and architectural heritage.

Place de l'Horloge

Place de l’Horloge is the vibrant heart of Avignon, known for its lively atmosphere and historical significance. Surrounded by charming cafés and restaurants, this bustling square is home to the City Hall and the 19th-century Opera House. The square gets its name from the clock tower that once adorned the medieval bell tower of the City Hall. Throughout the year, Place de l’Horloge is a hub of activity, hosting markets, festivals, and street performances, making it the perfect spot to experience the local culture, relax, and enjoy the rhythm of life in Avignon.
