I am lucky enough to live in this postcard picturesque area on the edge of the famous Cotswolds region. It's easily reached from Oxford city- where I happen to be an experienced tour guide too. So if you book a tour with me, not only can I tell you lots about the Cotswolds heritage but also its connections to Oxford and eg the famous Oxford pre Raphaelite artists such as William Morris who lived in this region. On the tour, I will also introduce the historical monuments which we'll visit such a Roman villa & the ruins of a medieval manor house.

North Leigh Roman Villa
This is one of the largest sites for a Roman villa and farm in Britain and they estimate hundred of people worked here. You can see some of the underground heating system and some minor walls standing. This is our first scheduled stop and it is about 3.5 miles from start point so it should take about an hour to walk there. If you wish to pack a picnic, you could decide to stop here for lunch stop but otherwise we will continue to any of the following stops to buy lunch in a pub or cafe. If folks wish to stop here
Long Hanborough
We start the tour in Long Hanborough and we walk through the village to access a walking path through meadows and woods before then turning back onto a country lane to walk to North Leigh Roman villa. If you wish to, option to visit the local supermarket or pub to buy drinks or food to take with you on the walk.
We pass through this pretty village on our route. This village has a pub so there is option to stop here for drink or lunch too.

Meet
Pickup and Dropoff
You can choose to be picked up from a list of locations, or alternatively, have the choice to make your own way to the meeting points
Please arrive at the pick up point 30 minutes before departure time.
Additional Information
You have two options how to meet me as follows: You can either meet me at my default pick up point which is outside Long Hanborough train station, OX29 or you can arrange for additional cost added on to have a taxi booked to collect you from your hotel. If you opt for a taxi pick up, I will book the taxi for you but you will need to pay the taxi driver yourself when you get the taxi. Hanborough is the very first train stop, 9 minutes train from Oxford on the Cotswolds train line which runs through eg Moreton in Marsh and continues to Hereford direction. Trains depart on this line every hour or half hour. When you book the tour, I will inform you of the departure and arrival time to catch the train from Oxford to meet me at Long Hanborough.
Meeting Points
- Default meeting point is outside Long Hanborough train station.
End Points
- The walking tour finishes in Burford village. Burford has either a bus service taking about 90 minutes and departing hourly to Oxford. Burford also has taxi services and some other bus services to other regional towns or villages which I can assist you to check schedule.

There is no need to carry digital ticket as I save your contact details into my diary as soon as your booking is received. I will also contact you to check how you plan to meet us and whether you may need assistance with helping book a taxi pick up for you or to confirm train details to meeting point. This tour does not pay for the cost of any transport to get to meeting point or after tour ends to return to your next destination. However, I will assist and advise you on such matters as eg timetables of buses and trains etc.
