Situated at one of the most precious spots along the Bosphorus, the Ortaköy Mosque, with its elegant architecture, is one of the structures that define the skyline of the strait. Originally named the Büyük Mecidiye Mosque, it represents the final period of Ottoman architecture. Commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid, this mosque follows the monumental structure of the Dolmabahçe Palace, continuing the city's architectural expanse along the Bosphorus.
