After the canyon stretch, the river opens out and rafters will enjoy sweeping views of the scenic Athabasca Valley providing the perfect balance of whitewater for an introductory level trip.

Begin the tour with a 30-minute bus ride to Athabasca Falls. Gear up with all necessary equipment and change into your wetsuit. Your certified guide will overview rafting and safety procedures before you board the 6-passenger, self-bailing raft. Hear the thundering Athabasca Falls behind you as your raft joins the whitewater downstream, navigating the high rock walls of the Athabasca Canyon. Enjoy 8-9 sections of fun Class 2+ rapids before the river mellows, offering a chance to relax and take in views of the Canadian Rockies. Spot local wildlife on the shoreline of this pristine environment. All equipment, including paddles, wetsuits, neoprene booties, and paddle jackets, is supplied. Wear a swimsuit or a t-shirt and shorts, and be prepared to get wet. Bring dry clothes, a towel, and on cooler days, wool socks, a fleece, or a warm jacket. You can also bring snacks and water for the bus ride. These trips require no previous experience and are suited for individuals aged 5 and above seeking an introductory whitewater adventure.

  • All day parking is located in the parking lot directly across the street from Shell Gas station on Connaught drive
  • All departure times listed are in Alberta Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST)
  • Children must be a minimum of 5 years of age. Children ages must be confirmed to Maligne Adventures before date of rafting experience.
  • Dress with a swimsuit underneath your street clothing and bring warm clothing for afterwards. It is also recommended to bring a drink and snack for after the tour
  • This trip runs in all weather conditions. Participants will be provided with all the necessary technical equipment including wet-suits, spray jackets, neoprene booties and life-jackets, however on cooler days, those prone to feeling the cold should bring either a fleece or wool jacket to wear underneath the spray jacket (no cotton should be worn)
  • Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
  • Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • The duration of transfers are approximate, the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions

Connaught Dr. & Hazel Ave) • You must check-in and sign waivers, 15 minutes prior to departure time • Children must be a minimum of 5 years of age • Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult • Dress with a swimsuit underneath your street clothing and bring warm clothing for afterwards. It is also recommended to bring a drink and snack for after the tour • This trip runs in all weather conditions. Participants will be provided with all the necessary technical equipment including wetsuits, splash jackets, neoprene booties and lifejackets, however on cooler days, those prone to feeling the cold should bring either a fleece or wool jacket to wear underneath the splash jacket (No cotton should be worn) • All departure times listed are in Alberta Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST) • The duration of transfers are approximate, the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions • Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund • Boat configuration is at the discretion of raft guides and will be determined on the day based on overall group size. While the best effort is made to keep groups together in same raft, due to logistics, this cannot be guaranteed.
