XVI, which on the ground floor contains several pieces from the Berardo Collection, you will also visit Jardim do Buxo, the vineyards and Casa do Lago (also known as Casa do Prazer!). This visit lasts approximately 60 minutes. 2 – Bacalhôa Winery/Museu, where you can enjoy the exhibitions of African Culture, Art Deco, Art Noveuau, the largest collection of tiles in Portugal (from the 16th century to the 20th century), as well as the aging barrel rooms of the red wine and muscat wine. This visit lasts approximately 60 minutes. 3 – Bacalhôa Wine Tasting. Behind great wines, there is always a great story.
Viewing the Azeitão tile factory is a unique experience for ceramic lovers. Located just 30 minutes from Lisbon, this factory has a long history in the production of artisanal tiles. During the visit, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the entire tile manufacturing process, from preparing the clay to painting and final firing. It is possible to observe the artisans working and bringing the pieces to life, using traditional techniques and keeping tradition alive. Furthermore, it is possible to enjoy an exhibition of old tiles and learn about the history of this art in Portugal. Visitors can also purchase tiles directly from the factory, as a unique souvenir of their visit. Built in the 19th century, it was restored in 1923 by the Swiss architect, Ernesto Korrodi, and was the residence of the Soares Franco family until the 70s of the 20th century. With a very special façade and beautiful gardens, it has always been associated with the image of José Maria da Fonseca. The tour through the Casa-Museu begins with a brief explanation of the company's history, followed by a visit to the old cellars: Adega da Mata and Adega dos Teares Novos, where, among others, Periquita wine ages, and the Adega dos Teares Velhos, where the oldest Moscatéis de Setúbal rest, some of which are authentic relics over 100 years old. At the end, you will have the opportunity to discover and taste some of the wines produced by José Maria da Fonseca, through a wine tasting.
