Marble Caves of Carrara

A spectacular view of the Apuan Alps and a breathtaking tour. The tour includes a guided tour with a 4x4 Jeep of open pit quarries, to observe the modern machinery used today for excavation and learn the methods of extraction, but above all to relive the history of the white blocks of the most famous marble in the world. After the quarry tour, you can visit the village of Colonnata, where you can taste and buy local products in the shops that animate the small village. The tour ends with a visit to an ancient Larderia with illustrations of production and storage techniques in the typical marble basins. In the afternoon, we will head to Pietrasanta, the world center of artistic marble processing, but also of other artistic products, such as mosaic and metal sculptures. We will visit some art workshops and experience the thrill of witnessing the live realization of the works. The tour will then continue to discover the beauties of the small historic center of Pietrasanta from the Duomo, to the cloister of S. Agostino to end with some shopping in the small boutiques of the center.
