Chichen Itza
Depart from your hotel and enjoy a scenic drive to Chichen Itza, home to towering stepped pyramids and intricate temples. A private guide is on-hand to provide enriching background on the history and culture of the once-mighty Maya civilization and to bring to life relics, such as the ancient Ball Court, where tournaments ended in murder. You also have time to wander on your own.
Cenote Hubiku
Stop for a refreshing dip in a sunken limestone swimming hole, or cenote, before lunch at a local restaurant and a visit to a tequila museum for a peek at the agave-based spirit.
Next, visit Ek Balam, an off-the-beaten-track Yucatec-Maya archaeological site with incredible carvings hidden in a jungle landscape. Climb the soaring Acropolis pyramid, the highest point of the ruins.
