Now called Kite Beach, is the most famous place on the island for the practice of Kite surfing. Here is the school of the famous Mitu, who was the first Cape Verdean to be world champion in this sport.
Costa da Fragata is a cape on the island of Sal. It is located at the foot of the Serra Negra, about 6 km northwest of the town of Santa Maria. It is part of the Ponta da Fragata nature reserve.

Of an unusual beauty in the middle of the Santa Maria Dunes, the Santa Maria salt pan was built by the Portuguese, who for many years exported salt to the 4 corners of the world. Today, the local inhabitants continue to extract salt, but for internal consumption
