Start in Cusco with an early-morning pickup at 2:15am, continuing for 3 hours aboard a private van to the start of the trail. You will be given a hot breakfast at the trailhead to fuel up for the hike ahead. The hike to the “Rainbow Mountain” will take around 3-4 hours, depending on your fitness level.
Throughout your journey you’ll trek through a vibrant green valley, offering an impressive view of Ausangate Mountain towering in the distance. As you walk, you’ll also get a first-hand look at how locals live in the mountains, and even have a chance to speak with them. Your guide will explain the geology behind the Rainbow Mountain, and offer encouragement during one last push up to a vantage point offering a 360-degree view of the beautiful landscape of this sacred land. Enjoy some well-deserved snacks on top, and take a break to soak up the vistas.
