The longest version of Gubeikou to Jinshanling hike – walk a long stretch of wall in the northeast of Beijing, going from unrestored to restored wall with a nice detour through farmland midway.The total hiking time is around 5 hours, and there are a few slippery sections on this hike. Meet your friendly tour guide and driver at 7:30.a.m in your hotel lobby and relax in the private vehicle for about 2.5-hour drive to the Gubeikou Great Wall while listing the history from your tour guide.
The hike begins at the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall in Miyun County. Even though it’s designated as a park, this section of the Great Wall is completely unrestored, covered with over 140 watchtowers, all differing in size and design. From the Wall here you will be able to witness how the Wall twists and winds along the steep mountain ranges.
You will hike about 10 km (6 miles) from Gubeikou to Jinshanling with a nice detour by walking and exploring a quaint nearby local village and re-enter the wall somewhere close to Jinshanling section. You surely can take some great panoramic photos there.
After finish the hiking, you will enjoy an authentic lunch at a countryside local restaurant - the cost of the food and drinks are included.
Your tour concludes with transfer back to your Beijing hotel.
