Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 a.m.. Then, we will transfer to Zhujiajiao and start the highlight tour. Also known as the ‘Venice of Shanghai,’ Zhujiajiao is the best preserved of the four ancient water towns in the Shanghai area. With a history dating back over 1,700 years, Zhujiajiao is full of lovely canals and waterways, small alleys, picturesque bridges, and ancient buildings, many from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The best way to explore Zhujiajiao is on foot and by boat. We will stroll through 1,700 years of history on a leisurely boat tour of this delightful water town. Then, We will visit landmarks including Kezhi Garden, the Qing-period post office, the City God Temple and Yuanjin Temple. Zhujiajiao post office is the earliest post office in east China, which is the only well-preserved Qing dynasty post office in east China. At noon, we will enjoy local specialty for lunch. After lunch, we will transfer to Shanghai downtown and visit several iconic attractions.
We can approach to appreciate the SHIKUMEN style old houses and the relaxing atmosphere of Xintiandi. Xintiandi is a tourist attraction that preserves the historical and cultural features of Shanghai and integrates Chinese and western culture. Xintiandi is divided into northern and southern parts. The south is dominated by modern architecture. The north is dominated by Shikumen old buildings. Composed of Shikumen and modern architectural style, now it has become a hot and fashionable pedestrian street in the center of the city. Actually, it stands for the popular and leisurely life style of this city's new generation. The outdoor cafés, bars and romantic restaurants can be seen everywhere. It was once the site of the first congress of the Communist Party, but is now lined with shopping and entertainment places.
The tour will start by the crossing of Tibet Road and Fangbang Road, in one of Shanghai’s many antique neighborhoods, also known as the cricket market. Its full of flowers, bonsai, birds, fish insects and crowds of people searching for whatever their hearts desire. It is a good place to experience part of a local’s life kind of life.
