Seljalandsfoss: Is one of the best-known waterfalls in Iceland Seljalandsfoss is located in the South Region in Iceland right by Route 1.The waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls and natural wonders in Iceland. The waterfall drops 60 m (197 ft) and is part of the Seljalands river that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. One of the interesting things about this waterfall is that visitors can walk behind it into a small cave.

Skógafoss: Is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a width of 15 meters (49 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is usually visible on sunny days.

At the eastern side of the waterfall, a hiking and trekking trail leads up to the pass Fimmvörðuháls between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. It goes down to Þórsmörk on the other side and continues as the famous Laugavegur to Landmannalaugar.

You will also see depending on the conditions, Iceland’s newest star Eyjafjallajökull volcano, that erupted in 2010. Eyjafjallajökull is one of Iceland’s smaller ice caps

Following the coastline, we will stop at Reynisfjara which is framed by a black sand beach that was ranked in 1991 as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world.

We might even see some puffins if we are lucky in the summertime.

The village of Vík is the southernmost village in Iceland around 180 km by road southeast of Reykjavík.

Dyrhólaey is a 120-metre high promontory, not far from Vík.

After Reynisfjara and Vík we take a look at the amazing glacier Sólheimajökull, one of the outlet

tongues of the ice cap Mýrdalsjökull
