Konyacho is a historic district in Morioka, known for its old streets and traditional atmosphere. Long ago, this area was home to many dyers and craftsmen. Today, you can stroll through charming stone-paved streets, visit local shops, and enjoy the view of the Nakatsugawa River.
Morioka Sansa Odori Festival
Morioka Sansa Odori is a traditional summer festival famous for its huge parade of taiko drums and dancers. It celebrates a local legend about driving away evil spirits with the sound of drums. Today, thousands of people in colorful costumes dance through the city streets, clapping and shouting “Sansa, sansa!” to spread happiness.
