Romania’s first king, Carol the 1st (1866-1914), built Peles Castle in the second part of the 19th century one of the most impressive castles in Europe. This was his favorite place in Romania. Built and modified continuously until the death of Carol the 1st, in 1914, the castle is today one of the most important historical monuments in Romania, preserving thousands of art objects.
One of the highlights of historical Transylvania, Brasov was founded by the Saxon colonists in the medieval centuries when its location made it a strong commercial hub, but also a key site to defend. During the walking tour, you'll visit the magnificent Black Church, the Weavers' Bastion, the Council Square and you'll walk along the lines of the medieval fortification system.
