After your ferry crossing passing Carbery’s 100 Isles, arrive at Cape Clear Island. Arriving at the north harbour on the Island, spend some free time exploring this Gaeltacht Island, learning about the island’s culture, the islander life, including old traditions and traditional farming. Discover the island’s ancient standing stones, Napoleonic Tower, Dún an Óir Castle , 12th century church and visit the memorial on the Island to the 1979 Fastnet Yacht Race Disaster. See the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse in the distance on one of the walking trials or enjoy lunch at one of the island’s bars and restaurants. After lunch re-board the ferry travelling to see the lighthouse. Catch a glimpse of the magnificent whales and dolphins en route! We circumnavigate ‘An Carraig Aonair` or the ‘Lonely Rock’ taking in its history and culture. Once we have circled the Rock twice, to get the perfect photo, we head for home enjoying the spectacular scenery until we reach our final port.

Schull is a small but very charming and lively village nestling between the foothills of Mount Gabriel and Schull Harbour. Join this tour from Schull harbour with a crossing on the ferry through the beautiful waters of Roaring Water Bay

Roaringwater Bay, also known as Carbery 100 Isles, and includes the islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin, Heir and Long Island which enjoy a vibrant community life all year round. This bay contains various terrestrial and marine habitats. Five of these habitats are protected because of their importance at a European level.

Cape Clear Island - Cape Clear Ferries

Cape Clear Island is situated off the coast of West Cork on the Wild Atlantic Way. The Island is 8 miles by ferry from the mainland and is the nearest inhabited area to the famous Fastnet Rock Lighthouse. It is three and a half miles long by one and a half miles wide and has a permanent Irish speaking population of 130 which increases significantly during the summer months.

Ticket details from Schull: Meet point; Schull pier, Schull harbour, Schull, West Cork, Ireland Directions: Take the main road (R592) down to the harbour in Schull, after the Centra shop turn right into South Terrace road, direction the harbour and then left onto Pier Road to the public parking. Walk to the pier and board the Cape Clear Ferry. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before scheduled start time to board Contact number: +353 (0)87 389 9711 (Schull boat) Parking: There is a public car park at the harbour. Please ensure you are there early as spaces fill up fast. What to bring: Weather is much cooler and windy at sea, so please bring warm. layered, wind and rainproof gear. We carry sufficient Lifejackets for each individual person, along with life rafts, a rescue boat & all other required safety equipment. Everyone who is close to or on water should wear a correctly fitted life jacket. This activity is weather dependent, and the Skipper has the final say on the day.
